About the Pastor

Denyse Bailey was born and raised in Hartford, CT. Her parents, St. E. Christine Saunders and St. Richard Saunders, were devout members of the Church of God and Saints of Christ. St. Christine was favored to raise the children of the late Rabbi Howard Z. Plummer, Sts. Sarah, Jennie, and David, which began a life-long connection with the Davidic line and promise. This special bond continued when Rabbi Howard Z. Plummer and his wife, St. L. Bernice Plummer, became her Godparents.

Denyse Bailey was educated in the Hartford Public School system and attended UCONN to earn a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Denyse Bailey’s community activism started early in her life and continues today.

  • Participated in the Free Breakfast for Children while attending college.
  • Director of Third Tabernacle Repast Food Pantry for more than 21 years.
  • Literacy Volunteer for more than 10 years with the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford.
  • Tutored children in the inner-city public school system in an After-School program.

Elder Bailey is the mother of two sons and has five grandchildren.  She is an avid writer and loves reading, watching movies, all forms of exercise, and listening to all genres of music.

She was appointed a Sister Elder by Elder Charles Watson on December 12, 1998 and elevated to the ministry and assigned as Local Pastor of Twenty-First Tabernacle Beth El Mt. Vernon by Chief Rabbi Phillip E. McNeil, on July 31, 2021. As a member of  Third Tabernacle Beth El Hartford, she served as a choir member in the Union Choir, Rachel and Acting Mother Sarah of the Daughters of Jerusalem and Sisters of Mercy Quorum, Sister Elder and Trustee Chair.

Elder Bailey is inspired by pure unadulterated praise and worship of the Almighty God, the sweet songs of Zion, great preaching, reading the word of God and being in the presence of Chief Rabbi Phillip E. McNeil, Grand Father Abraham.
