History of the Tabernacle

Twenty First Tabernacle Mt. Vernon was incorporated on September 19, 1918.

The membership began to grow quickly and there was a need to erect an edifice. Through the generosity and dedication of St. Joshua and St. Mary Gilliam-Morris, members of Twenty First Tabernacle, Lot (#42), was purchased and donated. In 1929, construction of an edifice began at 427 South 7th Avenue, Mt. Vernon, NY.

During his reign, Bishop William H. Plummer, prophesied on two occasions, regarding Twenty First Tabernacle Mt. Vernon.  He said,  “Mt. Vernon would be the largest Tabernacle in the area.” He also said, “One day Fourth Tabernacle Yonkers, NY and Mt. Vernon will be one:”

From 1918 to this present day, abides a people of God, in the City of Mount Vernon, under the guidance and direction; love and care; of strong men and women of God who, without fear, reservation, or surrender, executed the work of God and His Prophets. We continue to earnestly contend for the faith, which was once delivered unto the Saints and to uphold the work of Prophet William Saunders Crowdy, our spiritual emancipator.
